Quiz 5: Mutable List Operations and List Processing
Learning Goals
Note: Drawing list diagrams will not be tested on Quiz 5. It will be tested in Quiz 6. However, understanding that lists can be shared/aliased will be tested in Quiz 5
Students should be able to:
- Predict the effect of indexing list structures (including nested lists) using both nonnegative and negative indices.
- Write indexes for specific elements in nested list structures.
- Define mutable and immutable
- Give examples of mutable and immutable values in Python
- Understand how lists are mutated by: slot assignment,
.append,.pop, and.insert - Understand the consequences of sharing/aliasing lists
- Understand and write loops that accumulate lists via
.appendor list concatenation, including those using the mapping and/or filtering patterns. - Translate into Python list accumulation algorithms expressed in English
