CS111 Problem Set 0

Tasks 1 - 3. Due 7:00pm the evening before your lab
(If your lab is Tues, Jan. 24, then complete these tasks by 7:00pm Monday, Jan 23rd. If your lab is Wed, Jan. 25, then complete these tasks by 7:00pm Tuesday, Jan 24rd.)

Task 4. Complete before Thursday Jan. 26 lecture

Task 1: Request a CS Account (due: 7:00pm the evening prior to your lab)

Starting with the first labs on January 24th & 25th and for the remainder of the semester, you will need an account on cs.wellesley.edu, the Wellesley computer science department server. We will often shorten this to "the cs server" or just "cs". You need this account to submit all assignments in CS111.

If this is your first Wellesley CS class, then you need to fill out this account request form. This form is only accessible from an on-campus network.

Make sure you select "cs111" from the drop-down menu at the bottom before you press the "Submit Account Request" button at the end of the form.

If you have already taken a Wellesley CS course (e.g. CS110), then you do NOT need to fill out the form.

What if you are not officially enrolled in the class but hope to get in? Go ahead and fill out the account request form. If it turns out that you do not enroll, we will delete your account.

Task 2: Fill out our form (help us get to know you) (due: 7:00pm the evening prior to your lab)

This semester, we have over 80 students taking CS111. Yeehaw! Please fill out this form so we can get to know you a little better. Required items are marked with a red *. Thanks!

Task 3: Subscribe to our cs111-spring17 google group (due 7:00pm the evening prior to your lab)

Many of you have been directly added to the cs111-spring17 google group. If you are not a member, please add yourself to this group. This is important because this is how we contact all enrolled students with changes in course content or deadlines. This is also a place where you can post questions (no python code, please).

Task 4: Review the CS111 site (complete before first lecture on Thursday, Jan. 26th)

Explore the course site, there's lots of information in there. Here are some particularly useful pages that you should read/familiarize yourself with:
