So you want to take CS111?
[CS111 Home Page] [Syllabus] [Students] [Lecture Notes] [Assignments] [Programs] [Documentation] [Software Installation] [FAQ] [CS Dept.] [CWIS]

Due to unexpectedly high student interest, CS111 is oversubscribed this semester. Both sections are full, and waiting lists are long. Furthermore, many of those who are officially registered for the course have expressed an interest in changing their lab or lecture sessions.

To sort everything out, we need to get more information from you. If you want to take CS111 this semester, then (whether you are already registered or not) you must send email to fturbak@wellesley.edu by noon on Wednesday, September 3, that answers the questions below. If we don not receive email from you, we will assume that you do not want to take CS111 this semester.

Based on student responses, we will reschedule students into lectures and labs. We will inform you of the new schedules via email as soon as we figure it out. Note: if you are currently registered for the course and list your currently scheduled lecture and lab times in your preferences, we guarantee that you will keep your spot in CS111 this semester. However, if you are registered and do not list your currently scheduled lab or lecture time in your preferences, we cannot guarantee you a spot. We will do our best to satisfy as many student requests as possible.First-years: We strongly discourage you from taking CS111 this semester so that currently unregistered upperclass women will have a better chance of getting into the course.

If you do not get into CS111 this semester, we encourage you to try again next semester. CS111 is experiencing some growing pains, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.
