CS111 Laboratory assignment 1: Build Your Home Page

Due: Before lecture on Thursday, September 11

(Read the bottom of this page to find out how to turn in the lab!)

Image Announcement:

You can now download a picture of yourself from the cs111/download directory. The images are all in a directory called "Images" inside the download directory.

Today you will create your home page for the course. You will use the information you collected in the prelab, plus whatever witty, original and interesting things you care to include to make marvelous home pages. During lab, we will take pictures of each of you so that you will have a picture of yourself to use on your page. Some time soon, we will have a contest (that has absolutely nothing to do with your grade) to vote on who has the coolest home page.

Due Date: Thursday, September 11

Your Homepage must include (but is not limited to) the following:

1. A title.

2. An introduction of yourself to your fellow students.

3. At least one image (this can be your picture that we take today, or some other image of your choice).

You should have some information about the following things prepared from your prelab. Use that to include:

4. At least three different styles of text (e.g. different sizes, bold face, italic, etc).

5. At least three links to the web ("My favorite links").

6. At least one of the following:

a) A table of vertically aligned elements, with at least two columns.

b) An image that serves as a link.

c) A bullet (small filled-in circle) beside a piece of text.

When you are done, you can upload your webpage with the name: index.html into your public_html folder. Then click on your name in the class list to see if it works! (Note, you will replace the simple index.html file you uploaded for the prelab. That's OK.)

Turning in your lab--READ THIS!!!

In addition to uploading your webpage to your public_html folder (which will make it visible on the web) you must also upload your webpage to your folder in the lab1 drop folder in cs111 on nike. Upload the index.html file and any associated local files (Like image files).
